City Council Meetings

Noonday City Council meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:oo pm. All City Council meetings will be held at City Hall, Community Center Building, 16662 County Road 196. For more information regarding City Council meetings, please call 903-561-3351.

History of Noonday

Noonday is situated in the very center of block No. 26, of the Don Tomas Quevedo, Seven League grant. These seven leagues contain 50,996 acres of land, and are cut up into fifty blocks of various sizes. Noonday is located about eleven miles southwest from Tyler, and near the crossing of the old Tejas and Shawnee Indian trails. It is on the headwaters of the Brooks Saline Creek, and about four miles northwest from Big Eddy Lake on the Neches River. The lands surrounding the town are very productive farmland. The name of Noonday was given to it by Captain Edward W. Smith, a leading planter. He named

The town was incorporated in 1981. The city elected a Mayor and five Aldermen. The city has had three mayors, Bennie Smith, Jerry Calvert, and the current mayor, Mike Turman.

Noonday is a type A General Law Municipality.

Noonday is best known for its sweet onions.

Memorial Day Service

The holiday that recognizes members of the armed forces killed in wars; celebrated on the last Monday in May. A business meeting will be held from 10:30 to 12:00 noon. Lunch follows the business meeting; everyone is invited to bring enough food for their family.


Veteran's Day Service

Names are added to the Veteran's Memorial Monument every two years. A service is planned for Veteran's Day, November 11, 2011 at 10:00 am.

Noonday School Reunion

The Noonday School Reunion is held every other year on the third Saturday in October. All past students are invited to attend. The next reunion will be held in October 2011.
